Abstract

The influence of polyisobutylene succinate emulsifiers on the stability of the emulsion explosive matrices in mixed-loading vehicles was investigated.Four kinds of polyisobutylene succinate emulsifiers with the same hydrophobic chain length but different hydrophilic structures were synthesized by changing the types of polyols.Static and dynamic stabilities of the emulsified matrices prepared with four kinds of polyisobutylene succinate emulsifiers were analyzed.The viscosity changing rates of the emulsified matrices prepared with polyisobutylene succinic anhydride(PIBSA)-polyethylene glycol,PIBSA-ethylene glycol,PIBSA-glycerol,and PIBSA-sorbitol after static storage were 26%,57%,70%,and 33%,respectively.The viscosity changing rates after dynamic extrusion were 9%,40%,54%,and 22%,respectively.PIBSA-sorbitol exhibited superior emulsifying effects and improved stability of the emulsified matrix.Viscosity changing rates of the emulsified matrix prepared with PIBSA-sorbitol after static storage and dynamic extrusion were lower than those of the emulsified matrices prepared with the other three emulsifiers,and significantly lower than those of the emulsion matrix prepared with the commonly used T152 emulsifier(105%and 59%).It provides a technical reference for further exploring the application of polyisobutylene succinate emulsifiers in mixed-loading vehicle emulsion explosives.
