Chinese Temporal Narrative in Maxine Hong Kingston's Literary Works
摘要
Abstract
The Chinese temporal narrative refers to the expression and presentation of time in Chinese culture from a narrative perspective.In Maxine Hong Kingston's literary works,Chinese temporal narra-tive is reflected in the use of traditional Chinese concepts such as solar terms,festivals,and zodiac years as narrative content,as well as the presentation and identification of the traditional Chinese time view known as"zhou xing xiang qian".The Chinese temporal narrative serves various functions:infusing Kingston's texts with a sense of historical and lyrical quality,providing the possibility for Kingston to reshape Chinese culture creatively,and embodying Kingston's reflection on societal modernity.The Chinese temporal narrative in Kingston's literary works is influenced not only by her original Chinese family but also by American transcendentalism.Furthermore,it stems from her personal experiences with Chinese time.关键词
