Effect of Low-Pressure Discharge on Burr Removal from Aluminum Alloy Surfaces

Abstract
Thin-walled aerospace aluminum alloy components are prone to burr formation during CNC machining,which adversely affects dimensional accuracy and surface quality.There is an urgent need to explore innovative surface treatment technologies that are both technically feasible and suitable for engineering applications.This paper applied low-pressure discharge technology for burr removal.High-voltage,low-current discharge induced localized melting,flipping,and detachment of the burrs in a low-pressure environment,achieving non-contact removal.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and a roughness tester analyzed the burr morphology,surface microstructure,and roughness after treatment.The results show that this method reduces burr size,improves surface uniformity,and causes no significant damage to the base material under reasonable process parameters.The findings demonstrate that low-pressure discharge deburring can be feasibly applied to thin-walled aerospace components and provides a process-based reference for improving surface quality in advanced manufacturing.关键词
