Effect of adverse childhood experiences on the well-being of junior high school students:the chain mediating effect of social support and psychological resilience

Abstract
Based on attachment theory and learned helplessness theory,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 1 952 junior high school students using the Revised Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire(ACE-R),the Positive Childhood Experiences(PCE)Scale,the Chinese Version of the Brief Resilience Scale(BRS),and the World Health Organization Five-item Well-being Index(WHO-5).The results showed that adverse childhood experiences(ACEs)were significantly negatively correlated with social support,psychological resilience,and well-being,while social support was significantly positively correlated with psychological resilience and well-being,and psychological resilience was significantly positively correlated with well-being.ACEs significantly negatively predicted the well-being of junior high school students,with social support and psychological resilience playing a chain mediating role between ACEs and well-being.The study indicates that ACEs are a significant external factor leading to lower well-being among junior high school students and exert an indirect effect on well-being through social support and psychological resilience.To mitigate the impact of ACEs on junior high school students' well-being,improving their social support systems and enhancing individual psychological resilience can effectively increase their well-being and promote the psychological health development of this population.关键词
