Abstract
Objective To study the impact of social capi-tal,mental health, and physical health on medical service utilization among elderly people with MCI.Methods Data were collected from the 2018 cross-sectional data of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey(CL-HLS).Stata 18.0 was used to clean the data and analyze the descriptive statistics of the variables. We use the three dimensions of social capital:social participation, social sup-port,and social trust as independent variables, and mental health and physical health as mediating variables.Smartpls 4.0 partial least squares structural equation model(PLS-SEM)was used to conduct mechanism analysis.Multi-group path heterogeneity analysis was performed us-ing PLS-MGA,grouped by gender and place of residence. Results PLS-SEM analysis showed that among MCI elder-ly individuals, mental health mediated the effects of social participation(β=-0.01,P<0.01)and social trust(β=0.017,P<0.01)on health care utilization, while physical health mediated the effects of social participation(β=-0.099,P<0.001)and social support(β=0.008,P<0.05)on health care utilization.Furthermore, social participation had a di-rect effect on health care utilization(β=0.065,P<0.05),sug-gesting that different types of social capital influence health care utilization through different mechanisms among MCI elderly individuals.Multi-group MGA analysis re-vealed significant gender differences in health care utiliza-tion among MCI elderly individuals, while no significant path differences were observed between urban and rural groups. Conclusion This study supports the social determi-nants of health theory and social capital theory, arguing that social capital is an important antecedent of mental health, physical health, and healthcare utilization in older adults with MCI.关键词
