Abstract

Currently,the sugarcane-soil composite cutting discrete element model,which is closely related to key processes such as cutting and conveying in the mechanized sugarcane harvesting process,has not been sufficiently stud-ied.To address this issue,established a sugarcane-soil composite discrete element cutting model and calibrated the rele-vant discrete element parameters through physical experiments.Firstly,based on the Hertz-Mindlin(no slip)model,an angle of repose test was designed to calibrate the contact parameters of the soil and sugarcane stalks.Then,the soil and sugarcane stalk discrete element models were developed based on the bonding model,where the bonding parameters of soil particles were calibrated using soil hardness,the bonding parameters of the sugarcane epidermal particles were cali-brated using tensile failure force,and the bonding parameters of the sugarcane core particles were calibrated using com-pressive failure forces.Finally,based on the calibrated parameters,a sugarcane-soil composite discrete element model was established.Under the experimental conditions(blade angle 33.7°,disc angle 5°,rotational speed 600 r/min,for-ward speed 0.5 m/s,and cutting depth of 1 cm above the soil surface),the relative error between the simulation and ex-perimental results was 7.52%,validating the reliability of the simulation parameters.Further simulation analysis showed that,under certain ranges of rotational speed and blade angle,the cutting force of the sugarcane stalks gradually increa-ses.This study provides a theoretical basis for further investigation into the supporting effect of soil on stalks,cutting quality,and other related aspects.
