Optimization on latency of Bluetooth low energy neighbor discovery

Abstract
Neighbor discovery is an essential step for networking.In Bluetooth low energy(BLE)neigh-bor discovery,however,analyzing discovery latency is considered challenging.This paper investigates the approximate relation between the latency of single-channel and the multi-channel protocols,as well as between periodic deterministic advertising and pseudo-random delay advertising modes.By modeling the calculation of latency as discrete block-covering problem,we derive an approximate formulation of la-tency.Further,we derive the lower bound of average latency and optimal parameters.Simulation results verify the accuracy of our method,and demonstrate that the proposed parameters achieve near-optimal energy efficiency for both periodic deterministic advertising and pseudo-random delay advertising modes,compared to existing schemes.This work provides practial guidelines for the selecting energy-efficient pa-rameters in BLE neighbor discovery.关键词
