摘要

Abstract

The unique geographical location(adjacent to coastal waters with frequent tidal fluctuations)and climatic conditions(susceptible to concentrated heavy rainfall)of coastal tide-affected areas make the prevention of waterlogging disasters extremely complex. This complexity not only severely restricts local urban development, including delaying the construction of low-lying residential and commercial areas, limiting the expansion of infrastructure like roads and subways, and discouraging industrial investment that requires stable environments, but also draws widespread social attention,as residents worry about property damage, traffic disruptions, and health risks from prolonged waterlogging, while governments face mounting pressure to address the issue. To effectively mitigate waterlogging risks in mega cities, where dense populations and high economic activity amplify disaster losses, this study constructed a river-pipe-surface coupled model integrating rivers, pipe networks, and the ground surface, the river-pipe-surface coupled model integrating rivers, pipe networks, and the ground surface, considering design scenarios of heavy rainfall and high tides triggered by extreme weather(such as typhoons and storm surges, worsened by climate change),taking Haizhu District,Guangzhou,a typical tide-affected area in the Pearl River Delta where rainfall and tides often overlap to exacerbate waterlogging as a case study. This model simulates the entire waterlogging cycle, including rainfall infiltration, water flow in pipe networks, interaction with river systems, and drainage blockages caused by high tides. After calibrating the model with detailed measured data to ensure its accuracy, the disaster-causing patterns of surface waterlogging in tide-affected areas under extreme weather were identified. Results show that:① Waterlogging volume is proportional to rainfall and tide height;even moderate increases in either factor raise accumulated water, especially when they occur simultaneously.② For different designed rainfall scenarios, the growth rate of the peak waterlogging accumulation volume with the total rainfall amount is lower than the growth rate of the designed tide level in the same sequence.③Under combined rainfall-tide conditions, both waterlogging volume and Level-IV waterlogging areas are larger than those under single rainfall or tide conditions with the same hydrological frequency, showing a synergistic"double pressure"effect.④ Among all extreme weather designs,Level-IV waterlogging areas are the largest, and their proportion in tide-only scenarios is much higher than in rainfall-only scenarios of the same frequency. This study reveals the disaster causing law of surface waterlogging under extreme weather conditions in Haizhu District,Guangzhou, which can provide reference for the prevention and control of waterlogging in super large cities.
