摘要

Abstract

In recent years,multiple-generation successive monoculture of fast-growing plantations has exacerbated ecological problems,such as soil fertility decline,biodiversity loss,and frequent pest and disease incidences.In contrast,mixed forests exhibit more complex stand structure and have substantially positive impacts on plant community diversity,microbial community structure,and nutrient cycling.Therefore,the study of the impacts of mixed forest establishment from monocultures on its ecosystem processes and their working mechanism is crucial for solving the problems caused by monocultures.There is lack of systematic review of the impacts due to the complexity of biotic and environmental interactions.This review synthesizes the impacts,explores the mechanisms governing carbon sequestration,soil nutrients,microbial communities,soil-microbial stoichiometry,and biodiversity,and discusses the future research on mixed-species plantation.Three key research priorities are identified,including mechanisms behind varied response of plantation ecosystem to mixing,temporal dynamics of mixing effects,and multi-objective evaluation systems for plantation benefits.
