VR Simulation Study on Horizontal Evacuation Performance Prediction in Care Facilities for Older Adults Adapted for Visual Impairment

Abstract
Research on the safety evacuation of visually impaired older adults in institutional care facilities remains substantially inadequate.This study employs VR simulation technology to replicate the visual characteristics of common age-related ocular impairments.Leveraging a 3D model of a representative standard floor in institutional care facilities,we conducted horizontal evacuation experiments to examine the intrinsic relationships between spatial configuration,evacuation signage,and evacuation efficiency.A human factors-adapted predictive model was developed to quantitatively evaluate horizontal evacuation performance in architectural layouts of care facilities.Furthermore,evidence-based strategies for enhancing safety resilience were proposed from both spatial design and facility management perspectives.关键词
