Abstract

The regeneration effect of reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)is closely related to the diffusion and fusion characteristics of its rejuvenator in asphalt.The diffusion and fusion behavior of epoxidized plant oil(EPO)rejuve-nator in aged asphalt was systematically investigated.The interface diffusion law of EPO was studied by the interface image threshold method combined with the grayscale change characteristics of the image;Based on Fick's law of diffusion and composite material theory,the diffusion characteristics of EPO inside aged asphalt were studied;The fusion characteristics of EPO and aged asphalt were studied by monitoring the changes law in complex modulus and fusion degree.The research results indicate that there is a significant"step like"difference in grayscale values of them,that is,a large difference in grayscale values in the early stage of interface diffusion between EPO and aged asphalt,especially under low diffusion temperature conditions;With the extension of diffusion time and the increase of diffu-sion temperature,the grayscale values of EPO and aged asphalt gradually tend to be consistent;The diffusion coef-ficient of EPO in aged asphalt is influenced by the layer,diffusion time,and diffusion temperature,and the layer having the most significant effect;The fusion temperature is a key indicator.Increasing the fusion temperature can significantly increase the degree of fusion.To ensure sufficient fusion and diffusion of EPO in RAP,it is recom-mended that the total mixing time of EPO and RAP should be longer than 90 minutes,and the temperature should be above 155 ℃.This research result can provide reference for the engineering application of EPO regenerators or EPO based oil rejuvenator.
