Artificial Intelligence,New Quality Productivity and Common Prosperity of Urban and Rural Areas

Abstract
In the context of the continuous advancement of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and indus-trial transformation,artificial intelligence,relying on its high penetration and inclusive characteristics,has effectively promoted the transformation and upgrading of the agricultural industry and rural economic growth,and has gradually become a new driving force for the common prosperity of urban and rural areas.This paper constructs a dummy variable of the policies for the artificial intelli-gence innovation and development pilot zone,and then empirically tests the effect and mechanism of artificial intelligence on com-mon prosperity of urban and rural areas by using the multi-time period DID model and mediation effect model based on the panel data of 287 prefecture-level and above cities in China from 2012 to 2023.The results show that artificial intelligence can positive-ly drive the common prosperity of urban and rural areas,and this conclusion still holds true after a series of robustness and endo-geneity tests.The results of the mediation effect test show that artificial intelligence can indirectly drive the common prosperity of urban and rural areas by promoting the development of new quality productivity,that is,new quality productivity can play a posi-tive intermediary role between artificial intelligence and the common prosperity of urban and rural areas.The heterogeneity test re-sults show that there is significant heterogeneity in the impact of the artificial intelligence on the common prosperity of urban and rural areas,which is specifically reflected in its stronger promotion effect on cities in the eastern region,central cities and large-scale cities.关键词
