Numerical Simulation Analysis of Failure Characteristics and Movement Process of Simencun Landslide

Abstract
The landslides frequently occur in the Hehuang Valley,northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,even without intense rainfall events.The dynamic conditions governing their initiation and kinematic processes remain poorly understood.This study investigates Simencun landslide in the Jianzha Basin as a representative case,combining field surveys with numerical modeling to elucidate its deformation characteristics and movement mechanisms.The results reveal that the Simencun landslide is a revival of an old landslide due to soil softening from excessive irrigation.Numerical simulations reveal fluctuating velocity patterns at monitoring points with staged acceleration characteristics,demonstrating maximum displacement of 4.5 m at the toe and overall movement of 3-4 m,consistent with field measurements.The failure process evolves through three distinct phases:creep deformation,cumulative damage,and integral sliding.The failure pattern is characterized by sliding in the middle-upper section that drives the tensile deformation of the lower section.The sliding mass displays stepped displacement with prominent tensile cracks developing along the rear scarp and extensive bulging fractures forming in the central and frontal sections.The close agreement between simulation results and field observations provides critical insights into the triggering mechanisms and kinematic behavior of landslides in the Hehuang Valley.关键词
