Exploring the Role of Mitochondrial Homeostasis in Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy based on Yin-Yang Theory
摘要
Abstract
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is a degenerative disease of the peripheral nervous system and one of the most common chronic complications of diabetes,seriously affecting human health and quality of life.Mitochon-drial homeostasis imbalance is a crucial pathological link in the development of DPN.This article elucidates the role of mitochondrial homeostasis in DPN from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)Yin-Yang theory,arguing that mitochondrial homeostasis embodies the opposing,mutually dependent,and balanced nature of Yin and Yang.Therefore,it proposes that the essence of DPN caused by mitochondrial homeostasis imbalance is"insufficient Yang Qi,"with the key blame being"excessive Yin formation,"emphasizing the importance of adjusting Yin and Yang.Single-herb TCM treatment of DPN focuses on"tonifying Yang Qi"and"reducing Yin Qi,"while compound TCM for-mulas and prepared TCM medicines address both the root cause and symptoms,maintaining homeostasis by regulating mitochondrial biosynthesis,mitochondrial dynamics,and the mitophagy pathway,thus treating DPN.This approach combines classical TCM theory with modern medicine,aiming to provide insights and theoretical basis for further re-search on TCM guided treatment of DPN.关键词
