Gezhi Town:An alternative writing on homeland complex and the spirit of the War of Resistance
摘要
Abstract
Gezhi Town adheres to a thoroughly"grassroots"narrative paradigm,focusing on Mo Dexian,a civilian craftsman rather than a soldier.It anchors the grand theme of"defending the homeland"within the emotional ethics of"homeland complex"and the practical philosophy of"craftsmanship",revealing a"poetics of resistance in everyday life".This undoubtedly opens new avenues for both narrative approaches in war-themed films and the interpretation of the spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.The film traces the protagonist Mo Dexian's identity transformation from"machinist-military equipment repairer-electrical engineer"and his action logic of"losing home-settling down-protecting home",vividly illustrating that the source of victory in war lies in the resilience of countless individuals and the formation of a sense of community within the Chinese nation.Through ordinary wartime characters,expansive narrative spaces,and a vague yet enclosed battlefield environment,the film demystifies the historical portrayal of the war,shifting the audience from detached observers to immersive participants.The popular narrative perspective concretizes the spirit of the War of Resistance,transforming abstract national discourse into a spiritual resource closely tied to individual practice.Mo Dexian accumulates unwavering confidence through his"craftsman-like"philosophy of life,demonstrates heroism in repeatedly rebuilding his home,embodies national integrity within ordinary ethical contexts,and practices patriotism through professional ethics and skills.The portrayal of Mo Dexian also represents a creative transformation of historical memory of the war,offering tangible inspiration for contemporary youth to internalize and enact the spirit of the War of Resistance in their studies and work.The film provides an exemplary model for new mainstream cinema in achieving organic unity among ideological depth,historical texture,and artistic expression,while also pioneering a narrative path based on the poetics of everyday life for the creative contemporary adaptation of the spirit of the War of Resistance.关键词
