Abstract

The petrochemical industry is one of the major sources of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)emissions,so monitoring and controlling its VOCs emissions has long been a key focus of environmental protection.Mass spectrometry(MS)technology,with its high sensitivity,high resolution,and rapid analysis capabilities,has shown significant advantages in VOCs monitoring.The application progress of mass spectrometry in VOCs monitoring within petrochemical enterprises is reviewed,covering various mass spectrometry technologies,such as electron impact mass spectrometry(EI-MS),proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry(PTR-MS),and single-photon ionization mass spectrometry(SPI-MS).The current application status and challenges of mass spectrometry-based mobile monitoring technologies in the petrochemical industry are also discussed.It is found that the introduction of novel mass spectrometry technologies and the integration of mass spectrometry with cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence(AI)and big data will be the future development direction for VOCs monitoring in the petrochemical industry.
