Effects of yeast selenium combined with Bacillus subtilis on antioxidant and immune indices of serum,nutrient apparent digestibility,small intestinal mucosal morphology and digestive enzyme activity in meat sheep

Abstract
In order to study the effects of yeast selenium(YS)combined with Bacillus subtilis(BS)on the immune and antioxidant indicators of serum,the apparent digestibility of nutrients,the morphology of small intestinal mucosa and the activity of digestive enzymes,sixty Du-Han hybrid sheep aged 3 months with an average body weight of approximately 32 kg were selected and randomly divided into four groups,namely the control group(basic diet),the YS group(basic diet+100 mg/kg yeast selenium),the BS group(basic diet+30 mg/kg Bacillus subtilis),and the YS+BS group(basic diet+100 mg/kg yeast selenium+30 mg/kg Bacillus subtilis).Each group included 3 replicates with 5 sheep per replicate,and the experimental period lasted for 72 days.The sheep were fed twice a day at 08:00 and 17:00 daily.At the end of the experiment,antioxidant and immune indices of serum,apparent nutrient digestibility,small intestinal mucosal morphological indices,and digestive enzyme activities were determined.The results showed that compared with the control group,the pancreatic lipase were significantly increased in the YS group(P<0.05);the mass concentration of immunoglobulin G(IgG)and trypsin activity in the BS group were significantly increased(P<0.05);the mass concentration of interleukin-2(IL-2)and interleukin-6(IL-6)in the YS and BS groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the crypt depth(CD)of the duodenum and jejunum was significantly decreased(P<0.05);the serum total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),the total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD),the activities of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)and catalase(CAT),and the mass concentrations of IL-2,IL-6,IgG,immunoglobulin A(IgA),and immunoglobulin(IgM)in the YS+BS group were significantly increased(P<0.05);the malondialdehyde(MDA)concentration was significantly decreased(P<0.05);the apparent digestibility of crude protein(CP)and crude fat(EE)was significantly increased(P<0.05);the villus height(VH)and villus to crypt ratio(V/C)of the duodenum,jejunum,and ileum were significantly increased(P<0.05);the CD in the duodenum and jejunum was significantly reduced(P<0.05),and the activities of pancreatic lipase and trypsin were significantly increased(P<0.05).The results indicated that yeast selenium combined with Bacillus subtilis could improve the antioxidant capacity,immune and nutrient apparent digestibility of meat sheep,and improve their digestive function.关键词
