Analysis of the status quo and influencing factors for frailty in patients with different degrees of carotid stenosis

Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevalence of frailty syndrome in patients with different degrees of carotid artery stenosis,and analyze its influencing factors,so as to provide a basis for early clinical identification and intervention of high-risk groups.Methods A total of 199 patients with carotid artery stenosis who were hospitalized in the Department of Neurology of the First Affiliated Hospital,Fujian Medical University from October 2022 to April 2025 were selected as the study subjects.General information questionnaire,simple frailty scale(FRAIL),hospital anxiety and depression scale(HADS),Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)and nutritional risk screening 2002(NRS-2002)were used for investigation.Generalized linear regression model was used to analyze the effect of carotid artery stenosis severity on patients'frailty.Results The incidence of frailty syndrome in 199 patients with carotid stenosis was 47.74%.The degree of stenosis,nutrition,sleep,depression,heart disease and diabetes were the main influencing factors for frailty(P<0.05).The generalized linear regression model showed that the risk of frailty in patients with severe carotid stenosis was 2.306 times higher than that in patients with mild carotid stenosis(95%CI:1.391-3.822).After adjustment for depression,nutrition,age and stroke,the risk of frailty in patients with severe carotid artery stenosis was 1.461 times higher than that in patients with mild carotid artery stenosis(95%CI:1.032-2.069).Conclusion The prevalence of frailty syndrome is high in patients with carotid artery stenosis,and the risk of frailty syndrome increases significantly with the severity of carotid artery stenosis.Patients with severe carotid stenosis are at high risk of frailty syndrome.For severe carotid artery stenosis,patients should be screened for frailty and individualized comprehensive management strategies should be formulated according to the influencing factors of frailty.关键词
