Clinical Efficacy of Metformin Combined with Menstrual Cycle Regulation in Treatment of Glucose Metabolism Disorders in Obese Polycystic Ovary Syndrome with Liver Stagnation and Kidney Deficiency Syndrome

Abstract
Objective To explore the improvement effects of staged menstrual cycle regulation based on liver stagnation and kidney deficiency syndrome combined with Western medicine on glucose metabolism and obesity-related indicators in patients with obese polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods A total of 80 patients with obese PCOS who visited the gynecology outpatient clinic of Ningbo Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2024 to July 2024 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group(40 cases)and a control group(40 cases).The control group was treated with metformin and lifestyle intervention;on this basis,the observation group was given kidney-nourishing and liver-regulating traditional Chinese medicine in stages according to the menstrual cycle.After 3 months of treatment,the changes in glucose metabolism indicators[oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT),insulin release test(INS),insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR),and insulin autoantibody(IAB)],body mass index(BMI),and waist-hip ratio between the two groups were compared.Results After treatment,the levels of INS at all time points(0 h,0.5 h,1 h,2 h,and 3 h)and OGTT at all time points(0 h,0.5 h,1 h,and 2 h)in the observation group are lower than those in the control group(P＜0.01).The improvement degrees of HOMA-IR,IAB,BMI,and waist-hip ratio in the observation group are better than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The kidney-nourishing and liver-regulating method can effectively improve insulin resistance,glucose metabolism disorders,and abdominal obesity in patients with obese PCOS,which provides a new idea for the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of clinical symptoms of glucose metabolism disorders in obese PCOS.关键词
