Review on post-treatment technologies for additive manufactured metal surfaces:Current status,progress,and opportunities

Abstract
Additive manufacturing technology has been demonstrated to be a solution to the problems posed by complex structures and the difficulties encountered in traditional subtractive manufacturing.This is achieved through a layer-by-layer stacking mode,which has been shown to significantly improve the flexibility of component design and production efficiency.However,the inherent fast-melting characteristics of additive manufacturing technology can easily lead to problems such as poor surface accuracy,high surface roughness,and the presence of microcracks.These problems not only affect the assembly accuracy of the parts,but also reduce their fatigue life and service reliability,thus restricting their application in the field of precision engineering.The utilization of post-processing technology has been demonstrated to facilitate the optimization of surface quality and the comprehensive performance of titanium alloy components in the context of additive manufacturing.This technological advancement provides a foundation for the extensive application of additive manufacturing technology in high-end equipment domains,thereby promoting the transition of metal components produced by additive manufacturing from the laboratory to industrial settings.The present article provides a systematic review of extant metal surface post-treatment technologies for additive manufacturing,which can be divided into three types:namely,subtractive post-treatment,equimolar post-treatment,and additive post-treatment.The present article explores the current development status and future opportunities of post-treatment technology,providing suggestions for the development of metal surface post-treatment technology in additive manufacturing and promoting its application in industrial production.关键词
