Burden and trends of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary sarcoidosis in China from 1990 to 2021

Abstract
Objective:To analyze the disease burden and trends of interstitial lung disease(ILD)and pulmonary sarcoidosis(PS)in China from 1990 to 2021,and to provide evidence for the development of prevention and control strategies.Methods:With data on the prevalence,mortality,incidence and disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)as well as the relevant rates of ILD and PS in China from 1990 to 2021 available from the Global Burden of Disease Study database,the disease burden and growing trends were described.Joinpoint regression analysis was used to analyze the trends from 1990 to 2021 and to project the trend from 2022 to 2040.Results:The number of deaths increased from 2955 in 1990 to 7674 in 2021,and the mortality rate rose from 0.25 per 100 000 to 0.54 per 100 000.The total DALYs(disability-adjusted life years)increased from 112 642 in 1990 to 222 288 in 2021,and the DALYs rate rose from 9.57 per 100 000 to 15.62 per 100 000.The number of cases increased from 18 993 in 1990 to 48 514 in 2021,and the incidence rate rose from 1.61 per 100 000 to 3.41 per 100 000.The number of prevalent cases increased from 254 708 in 1990 to 628 383 in 2021,and the prevalence rate rose from 21.65 per 100000 to 44.17 per 100 000.Projections indicated that mortality rates and DALYs were expected to decline in almost all age groups,while incidence and prevalence rates were projected to rise in the population aged 75 and above.Conclusion:From 1990 to 2021,the disease burden of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary sarcoidosis in China increased significantly,with key indicators showing an upward trend and the burden shifting toward older populations.关键词
