Calibration Technique for Shielding Effectiveness Test Systems Based on a Coaxial Multivibrator Reference Sample

Abstract
The triaxial method for testing the shielding effectiveness of metallic communication cables is widely used in electromagnetic compatibility(EMC)testing.However,its metrological traceability system remains incomplete,and there is currently no effective calibration specification available.To this end,this paper proposed an integrated calibration technique based on a coaxial multivibrator as a high-frequency reference sample.Based on the working principle of the triaxial test system,a coaxial multivibrator with controllable strong resonant characteristics was designed as the high-frequency reference sample,effectively suppressing high-frequency oscillations caused by inherent distributed parameters of the system.Using electromagnetic simulation software,the structure of the reference sample was optimized,and the optimal dimensional combination was determined,enabling precise assignment of the reference sample via CST software simulations.Experimental validation of the developed high-frequency reference sample demonstrated a repeatability error of less than 0.26 dB,long-term stability better than 0.45 dB,and a maximum En value of 0.61 when compared with results from a typical test system.The proposed method resolves the traceability issues of shielding effectiveness testing systems in the high-frequency range and can be extended to calibrate cable shielding effectiveness test systems within the 0.3~3 GHz frequency range.关键词
