Exergetic Performance Comparison of Two Cross-Flow Indirect Evaporative Coolers

Abstract
To clarify the disparities in energy utilization between cross-flow dew-point indirect evaporative coolers(IECs)and conventional IECs,an exergy analysis model for IECs was established.Under the designated operating conditions,this model was applied to calculate the specific exergy,specific exergy destruction and ex-ergy efficiency of both humid air and water streams in the two types of IECs,with a subsequent comparative a-nalysis conducted on the calculation results.The results demonstrated that at an equal input exergy,the dew-point IEC achieves an increase of approximately 8.19%in useful output exergy and an improvement of around 2.5%in exergy efficiency compared with that of the conventional IEC.There are significant thermodynamic performance disparities between the two IECs,the dew-point IEC exhibits high exergy destruction in the ex-haust air,its internal exergy destruction is lower,each type of IEC has its own applicable scenarios.关键词
