A Study on Public Perceptions of Artificial Intelligence Safety:Textual Analysis of Online Comments

Abstract
Based on comment data from Sina Weibo and Toutiao,this study employed a variety of online text analysis techniques to capture public perceptions and attitudes toward AI safety,enhancing the scientific and in-depth nature of the research findings.The study found that public concerns primarily focused on the following aspects:technical security,social change and impact,and governance and regulation.Furthermore,the study found that public perceptions and attitudes toward AI safety exhibited a complex and diverse outlook.On the one hand,the public has positive expectations for the development of AI technology,believing it can promote technological innovation and industrial development,and benefit society.On the other hand,the public also harbors concerns and worries about the safety of AI applications,paying close attention to potential risks and safety issues such as harm to fair competition,erosion of consumer rights,unemployment,and regulatory failure.To address these issues,we propose guiding strategies such as establishing an open"system-public"communication mechanism,enhancing AI safety literacy among the general public,strengthening a dual legal and technical safeguard system,and actively encouraging job transfers.These strategies aim to effectively address public concerns,enhance public understanding of AI safety,and actively adapt to and integrate AI technology into healthy applications within a security framework.关键词
