摘要
Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression levels of Galectin-3,brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),and S100 calcium-binding protein B(S100B)in the peripheral blood of patients with schizophrenia and their association with cognitive function. Methods A total of 121 patients with schizophrenia who were admitted to Zhumadian Second People's Hospital from January 2023 to December 2024 were enrolled as observation group, and 100 individuals matched for sex and age during the same period of time were enrolled as control group.According to the score of Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)or MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery(MCCB),the observation group was further divided into cognitively normal group and cognitive im-pairment group. The serum levels of Galectin-3,BDNF,and S100B were measured;a Pearson correlation analysis was used to in-vestigate the correlation of the above indicators with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS)score and cognitive function;the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and the area under the ROC curve(AUC)were used to assess the value of these markers in predicting cognitive impairment. Results Compared with the control group and the cognitively normal group, the observation group and the cognitive impairment group had significantly higher expression levels of Galectin-3 and S100B and a sig-nificantly lower expression level of BDNF in serum(t=4.388-19.114,all P<0.05).Compared with the cognitively normal group, the cognitive impairment group had significantly higher total score and scores on each subscale of PANSS and a significantly lower MCCB comprehensive cognitive score(t=12.172,14.466;both P<0.05).The correlation analysis showed that the expression levels of Galectin-3 and S100B were positively correlated with PANSS score and were negatively correlated with MCCB score(r=—0.523 to 0.385,all P<0.05);in contrast, the expression level of BDNF was negatively correlated with PANSS score and was positively correlated with MCCB score(r=—0.319,0.313;both P<0.05).Serum Galectin-3,BDNF,and S100B alone and in combination had a certain value in predicting cognitive impairment, and the combination of the three markers had the highest pre-dictive efficacy, withan AUC of 0.874(95%CI=0.811-0.938,P<0.05),a sensitivity of 81.3%,and a specificity of 82.2%.Conclusion Patients with schizophrenia have increases in the serum levels of Galectin-3 and S100B and a reduction in the serum level of BDNF,which are closely associated with cognitive impairment.Combined measurement of the three biomarkers can be used to predict cognitive impairment in patients with schizophrenia.关键词
