Abstract
Vitamin C ethyl ether(VC-EE)often exhibits stability issues such as pH decrease and discoloration during cosmetic formulation development.To address this,we investigated the intrinsic properties of VC-EE and analyzed its stability across different suppliers,concentrations,initial pH values,formulation systems,and compatibility with other ingredients.Results indicate that discoloration is strongly correlated with VC-EE dosage,initial pH,formulation system,and ingredient compatibility.Stability can be significantly improved by adjusting VC-EE concentration,avoiding incompatible compounds,adding sodium metabisulfite as an antioxidant,and including citric acid and sodium citrate as buffers to prevent pH decline.Additionally,synergistic addition of trehalose can inhibit browning and furtherenhance stability.These findings provide practical strategies for overcoming VC-EE instability in cosmetic formulations.关键词
