Culturality and designability research of new Chinese-style clothing based on text-mining analysis

Abstract
Against the backdrop of China's"cultural power"strategy and the deepening of"cultural confidence theory,new Chinese-style clothing,as a representative fusion of traditional essence and modern aesthetics,has garnered significant attention in both consumer markets and academic research in recent years.However,existing studies predominantly rely on qualitative methods such as case analysis,literature review,and questionnaires,which are often limited by small sample sizes and a lack of quantitative support.Moreover,these studies tend to focus on summarizing surface-level design elements,failing to systematically reveal the deeper interactive mechanisms between"culturality"and"designability."To address these gaps,this study introduces text-mining methods from the field of big data analytics.By analyzing large-scale market data,it quantitatively examines the core characteristics and intrinsic connections between cultural expression and design innovation in new Chinese-style clothing,providing theoretical insights for design practice and brand development. In terms of methodology,the study first employed R programming tools to conduct high-frequency word statistical analysis on preprocessed text.Next,the latent Dirichlet allocation LDA)topic model was applied to macroscopically identify and extract latent abstract thematic clusters within the text.Finally,through content analysis,the study conducted an in-depth semantic interpretation of keywords and themes based on quantitative results,tracing back to the original textual context and aligning them with the theoretical framework to draw reasonable inferences regarding the relationship between culturality and designability. Based on this analytical process,the study systematically revealed three key expressive characteristics of new Chinese-style clothing in terms of culturality and designability.Furthermore,it concludes that the essence of new Chinese-style clothing lies in its successful paradigm of"creative transformation"and"innovative development"of traditional cultural resources through modern design methodologies within a globalized context.Its vitality stems from the dynamic and symbiotic interaction between"culturality"and"designability"—where the cultural core injects soul and distinctiveness into the design,while design innovation,in turn,revitalizes the culture,enabling new Chinese-style clothing to thrive and endure in contemporary living contexts. Although this study derived valuable insights from data sourced from the Taobao e-commerce platform,future research could expand data sources by integrating user-generated content from social media platforms such as Xiaohongshu and Weibo to capture more diverse consumer attitudes and emotional preferences.Methodologically,subsequent studies could incorporate more advanced natural language processing techniques,such as sentiment analysis and word vector models,to further explore consumers'aesthetic tendencies and emotional drivers,so as to continuously deepen the understanding of the cultural phenomenon of new Chinese-style clothing.关键词
