摘要

Abstract

As an essential trace element for life,selenium is playing an important role in maintaining the health of organisms like animals.Supplementing selenium to selenium-deficient animals serves as a vital approach to improve the quality and efficiency of animal production.Among various chemical forms of sele-nium additives,selenium nanoforms(SeNFs)have become a hotspot in feed additive studies due to its advan-tages including higher safety,superior bioavailability,stronger bioactivities,and facile preparation.In this review,the biological functions and applications of SeNFs in animal production were focused on,and the current technical challenges and potential solutions for the implementation of SeNFs in animal industry were also discussed.This review might benefit to providing theoretical references and research insights for the exploration of SeNFs in enhancing the quality and efficiency of animal production systems.
