Evaluation of Different Bioretention Cell Design Methods Based on the RECARGA Model

Abstract
This study employs the RECARGA model to simulate the performance of bioretention cells designed using eight different methods under three rainfall conditions:24.3 mm,37.2 mm,and 47.3 mm.The results indicate that the conventional design method and the PGC area-ratio method are particularly effective in reducing flood peaks in areas with lower rainfall.Moreover,the proportion of groundwater recharge to inflow in bioretention cells increases with higher rainfall amounts.In contrast,bioretention cells designed using the PGC_Comp,SCS,Haddam,and RFM-Darcy methods show better performance in reducing total runoff volume.However,as rainfall increases,the proportion of groundwater recharge to inflow in these designs decreases.Notably,the WDNR method shows no clear increasing or decreasing relationship between the proportion of groundwater recharge to inflow and rainfall amount.The lowest proportion of groundwater recharge occurs under 37.2 mm of rainfall,while the proportion under 24.3 mm of rainfall is higher than that under 47.3 mm.关键词
