Abstract
This article reported the entire process of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome differentiation and treatment for a case of hemorrhagic enteritis in a 5-year-old male Border Collie.The main symptoms were sudden onset of bloody stools,vomiting,and high fever.The case was diagnosed as a complex deficiency-excess syndrome with spleen deficiency as the root and damp-heat as the manifestation.The treatment employed a dynamic three-stage strategy based on syndrome differentiation:during the acute bleeding phase,adhering to the principle of treating the manifestation in emergencies,the approach combined clearing heat and cooling blood with replenishing Qi to control bleeding.Carbonized Sanguisorba Officinalis Root and Carbonized Sophora Japonica flower were used to directly reduce blood heat,while combined with Codonopsis Pilosula and Astragalus Membranaceus to strengthen the spleen's function of controlling blood.Hemorrhage was controlled within seven days.In the remission phase,addressing the pathogenesis of spleen deficiency with damp retention and residual heat,the formula was modified to Xiangsha Liujunzi Tang to repair gastrointestinal function by strengthening the spleen,resolving dampness,promoting digestion,and harmonizing the stomach.Vomiting ceased and appetite returned within five days.During the consolidation phase,targeting the signs of lingering damp turbidity evidenced by a thick,greasy tongue coating,Pingwei San was applied to warm,dry,and resolve turbidity,ultimately leading to the dog's complete recovery.This case indicated that stage-based treatment under the guidance of the TCM holistic concept could enable precise intervention in different pathological stages of canine hemorrhagic enteritis.This case of hemorrhagic enteritis demonstrated the TCM diagnostic and treatment process from damp-heat forcing blood extravasation to spleen deficiency with damp retention.It reveals the TCM essence of hemorrhagic enteritis in dogs as spleen failing to control blood,breaking through the localized treatment model of seeing blood and stopping bleeding.关键词
