Effect of Rare Earth Ce on the Microstructure and Properties of Oxygen-Free Copper with 1%Lead Impurity

Abstract
To enhance the purity and properties of regenerated oxygen-free copper,the effect and mechanism of rare earth cerium(Ce)on the removal of lead(Pb)impurities were systematically investigated.The influence of Ce contents(0-0.4%)on the microstructure,mechanical properties,conductivity,and corrosion resistance of oxygen-free copper was studied through microstructural characterization and performance testing.The results indicate that Ce spontaneously reacts with Pb to form a high melting point intermetallic compound,CePb3,which effectively refines and eliminates the Pb phase segregated at grain boundaries.The highest Pb removal rate reaches 68.39%when the Ce addition is 0.4%.Appropriate Ce addition can significantly improve the overall properties of oxygen-free copper.When the Ce content is 0.3%,the tensile strength and elongation reach their optimum values of 111.58 MPa and 8.05%,respectively;the conductivity of oxygen-free copper increases continuously with the increase of Ce content;when the Ce content is 0.2%,the corrosion resistance of oxygen-free copper is optimal,and the charge transfer resistance increases approximately six times compared with the Ce-free sample.关键词
