摘要

Abstract

[Significance]The high royal jelly-producing honey bee(abbreviated as"RJ bee")is a strain of Apis mellifera ligustica artificially selected and bred for its high royal jelly yield.Royal jelly is a pale yellow,paste-like substance secreted by the hypopharyngeal and mandibular glands of nurse bees.The physiological state of worker bees' hypopharyngeal glands is closely related to royal jelly production.For a long time,the molecular mechanism underlying high royal jelly yield has been a focus of research.This review aims to summarize research progress on the high-yield mechanisms of royal jelly production,in order to provide researchers with a better un-derstanding of RJ bees and to offer insights for bee breeding and industrial applications.[Progress]Previous studies have explored the mechanisms underlying high royal jelly yield from perspectives such as hypopharyngeal gland development,protein regulatory networks,and hormonal signaling pathways.This paper focuses on RJ bees,providing a concise review of research advances in their developmental history,morphology,and advances in transcriptomics,genomics,proteomics,and metabolomics.[Prospects]Future research should integrate mul-ti-omics technologies and gene-editing tools to further elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying high royal jelly production.These findings provide a basis for optimizing beekeeping management strategies and enhancing practical applications in apicultural production.
