Research progress in traditional Chinese medicine intervention in hepatocellular carcinoma based on the ferroptosis and immune microenvironment interaction mechanism

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)exhibits limited efficacy with current treatments due to its high heterogeneity and immune evasion.Ferroptosis,as an iron-dependent programmed cell death,opens new avenue for HCC therapy.Its crucial role lies not only in directly killing tumor cells,but more importantly in its capacity to function as a form of immunogenic cell death(ICD).By releasing damage-associated molecular patterns(DAMPs),ferroptosis can transform immunosuppressive"cold"tumors into immuno-activated"hot"tumors,thereby remodeling the tumor immune microenvironment(TIME).This"ferroptosis-ICD-immune microenvironment remodeling"pathway forms a pivotal link for activating anti-tumor immunity and overcoming therapeutic resistance.With its multi-target and holistic regulatory advantages,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)demonstrates unique potential in precisely modulating this core axis.Studies have confirmed that TCM can effectively induce ferroptosis by intervening in pathways such as iron metabolism,synergistically enhancing anti-tumor immune effects.This paper aims to systematically elucidate this core mechanism and explore new strategies for combining TCM with modern immunotherapy in the treatment of HCC,offering new perspectives for clinical practice.关键词
