Abstract
The Hungarian writer Krasznahorkai László's The Melancholy of Resistance(Az ellenállás melankóliája)is a profoundly meaningful and apocalyptic work.The novel tells a story of a riot that occurred in Hungary on the eve of the Eastern European upheaval,it reveals the dark side of power operations in human society.Behind the riot was actually a political"circus"manipulated by power.These power"circus"events have inflicted successive traumas on the people,especially on children.But children are also the key to break the cycle of violence and to create a bright future.The novel also reveals the totalitarian spectacle of Eastern Europe under Soviet control,and inspires people to think about their predicament and way out.At that time,Hungary,trapped in a closed and autocratic system of Soviet style,the revolutions were just power games among the strategists and didn't break away from the old system.However,the people of Hungary and even other Eastern European countries never gave up resistance.With the insight of a prophet,László implied the inevitable collapse of the old political structure in Eastern Europe.This novel is not only a profound literary portrayal of Hungary during a specific era,but also provides an important historical reference for contemporary humanity.Only by learning from history,maintaining critical thinking and moral vigilance,can one maintain a clear understanding and reflection on the hidden lies and manipulation in the contemporary power spectacle.关键词
