Abstract

The rapid development of the Internet of Things(IoT)presents growing challenges to China's power supply system.Triboelec-tric nanogenerators(TENGs)offer a promising solution by efficiently harvesting dispersed mechanical energy from the environment and converting it into electricity.However,conventional rotating TENGs(R-TENGs)often suffer from irreversible mechanical deformation of their friction materials during prolonged operation.This deformation alters the contact characteristics between the rotor and stator,leading to significant degradation in electrical output performance.Inspired by the structural stability of arch-shaped bridges,an arch-shaped rotor-based rotating triboelectric nanogenerator(AR-R-TENG)is proposed.The design features multiple arch-shaped support structures evenly distributed along the circumference of a circular rotor,with negative friction materials affixed to the arch surfaces.These arch-shaped supports enhance the mechanical stability of the friction layer,enabling more consistent contact pressure between the rotor and stator during rotation,which in turn ensures stable output performance over extended use.Experimental results demonstrate that the AR-R-TENG significantly outperforms traditional R-TENGs,achieving an open-circuit voltage of approximately 510 V.Even af-ter 50 000 operational cycles,the device retains 87.8%of its initial output performance.The incorporation of the arch-shaped structure offers a novel and effective strategy for improving the stability and durability of TENGs,highlighting its potential for environmental ener-gy harvesting and its capacity to provide sustained power for smart IoT nodes.
