Four-point bending testing and its acoustic emission monitoring for full-scale prestressed concrete box girders

Abstract
To gain an in-depth understanding of the damage evolution process of prestressed concrete box gird-ers and establish effective condition monitoring and damage assessment methods,four-point bending tests were conducted on two full-scale prestressed concrete box girders.Acoustic emission(AE)technology and the digital image correlation(DIC)method were synchronously used to monitor the entire process of these tests.The crack propagation laws and acoustic emission parameter characteristics of full-scale prestressed con-crete box girders at different damage stages were discussed.A b-value-based damage assessment model was es-tablished.The results show that the crack propagation process of prestressed concrete box girders is basically consistent with the theoretical analysis results.The acoustic emission ring-down counts at different damage stages exhibit distinct and identifiable variations.The peak frequency of acoustic emission signals induced by box girder damage presents a bimodal distribution,mainly concentrating in the frequency bands of 25-50 kHz and 90-120 kHz,with the energy in the 25-50 kHz band accounting for more than 70%.Acoustic emission event location,rise time/peak amplitude and ring-down count/duration can effectively reflect key damage areas and crack types.The damage of webs and bottom slabs of prestressed concrete box girders is mutually coupled;both bottom slabs and webs are dominated by tensile cracks,accompanied by shear cracks.The es-tablished logarithmic model based on the cumulative reciprocal of b-value and damage index can effectively as-sess the damage of prestressed concrete box girders.关键词
