Abstract
Against the backdrop of declining global fertility rates and demographic transitions, constructing a family-friendly childbirth support system has become an important pathway for countries to address the challenges of an aging population and low birth rates. As a country with the world's largest population,China has been actively advancing the transition from a childbirth-friendly approach to a family-friendly one through policy innovation and local practices. As can be seen, some developed countries have stabilized fertility rates while ensuring women's equal employment opportunities by implementing family-friendly policies such as flexible parental leave, especially shared parental leave, and generous childcare subsidies. This study,by synthesizing China's practices and the experience of some developed countries, finds that childbirth support policies need to shift from being childbirth-friendly to family-friendly,transitioning from a passive response to demographic challenges oriented solely towards increasing fertility rates,to investing in high-quality human development based on gender equality. This shift aims to break the stereotype of traditional childcare being feminized, promote shared caregiving responsibilities between men and women, and contribute Chinese wisdom to gender equality and sustainable economic and social development.关键词
