Investigating the Mind-Regulating Acupuncture for the Prevention and Treatment of Vascular Dementia Based on the Theory of"Shen Bushi"

Abstract
In recent years,with the aging of the population,vascular dementia(VD)has become one of the most common cognitive impairment syndromes in clinical practice.This condition is classified within the scope of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)as"dementia",with its primary pathogenesis attributed to"insufficiency of the marrow sea and dysfunction of the spirit mechanism".This study explores the application of mind-regulating acupuncture in preventing and treating vascular dementia,grounded in the TCM theory of"Shen Bushi"(loss of spiritual function).Vascular dementia not only significantly diminishes patients'quality of life but also imposes a heavy burden on societal healthcare resources.The TCM mind-regulating acupuncture demonstrates unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of vascular dementia through innovative modulation of the"spirit",encompassing variations in needle insertion direction,retention time,and acupoint selection.Centered on governing and regulating the spirit,this approach aims to restore the"Shen Shi"(spiritual function),re-establish harmonious unity between spirit and form,and thereby activate the body's intrinsic self-repair mechanisms,offering a novel therapeutic paradigm for the clinical management of vascular dementia.关键词
