Zhu Yan's Experience in Acupuncture Treatment of Elderly Rheumatoid Arthritis Based on the Theory of"Reinforcing Yang and Resolving Bi Syndrome"

Abstract
The pathogenesis of elderly rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is unique,yet clinical experience reports remain scarce.Chief Physician Zhu Yan,through years of theoretical study and clinical practice,summarizes that the fundamental pathogenesis of this disease is"yang deficiency with pathogenic stagnation,and impairment of tendons and weakness of bones".Consequently,she established"reinforcing yang and resolving bi syndrome"as the guiding therapeutic principle.For acupuncture treatment,the core point selection focuses on the Dong's Extraordinary Points:Linggu,Dabai,and the Xiasanhuang,with an emphasis on regulating the pivot and unblocking yang.This is supplemented by needling Zusanli(ST36)and Guanyuan(CV4)to jointly achieve the effects of fostering yang to remove stagnation,cultivating the primordial qi,and strengthening the foundation.Significant clinical efficacy has been observed.This article aims to systematically summarize Chief Physician Zhu Yan's academic insights and clinical methodology in acupuncture treatment for elderly RA based on the"reinforcing yang and resolving bi syndrome"theory,accompanied by a representative case study for verification.It is hoped to provide new inspiration for the traditional Chinese medicine syrdrome differentiation and treatment of RA and to further expand the clinical application of Dong's Extraordinary Points in rheumatic diseases.关键词
