Abstract

A parametrized modeling method based on B-Splines for area law(law of variation of cross section area along the path)controlled/uncontrolled annular isolator is proposed,and aerodynamic optimization of the area law controlled/uncontrolled isolator is undertook by using the aerodynamic optimization method.The results indicate that the wall con-figuration of annular isolator has significant effect on exit flow quality,the profile turns rapidly then gradually and the one turns gradually then rapidly all tend to form large-scale separated flows which cause a decrease in the total pressure recovery coefficient.However,there is no obvious separation for the flow in the configuration with equal urgency and the total pressure recovery performance is better.The optimal directions of total pressure recovery performance and back-pressure resistance performance of the isolator are not consistent,total pressure recovery coefficient of optimal iso-lator under area law uncontrolled condition reaches 0.778,but it can only resist 172 times the pressure of the free stream,total pressure recovery coefficient of optimal isolator under area law controlled condition reaches 0.764 and it can resist 196 times the pressure of the free stream.In view of the total pressure recovery coefficient of the optimal area law controlled isolator reduced only 1.82%,the back-pressure resistance ability is improved by 13.95%,in order to bal-ance the total pressure recovery and the back-pressure resistance ability of the isolator,it is recommended to design the isolator in the area law controlled way.
