Seismic Performance of Earthquake-Damaged Stony Masonry Walls Strengthened With Polymer Mortar in Joints

Abstract
To improve the insufficient seismic performance of rural stone structure houses in Southern Fujian,a strengthening technique with polymer mortar in joints was proposed,focusing on the seismic damage charac-teristics of stone masonry walls with door/window openings.The quas-i static test was conducted to investigate the improvement effect of this technology on the seismic performance of earthquake-damaged stone masonry walls,the core seismic performance indexes were systematically analyzed,such as failure modes,hysteresis loops,skeleton curves,stiffness degradation and energy dissipation of the specimens before and after strength-ening.The results show that although the original crack distribution and overall failure process of the stone masonry walls are not altered by the joint strengthening,the global stability of the wall is significantly in-creased during loading,and its seismic performance is effectively restored,the improvement of deformation ca-pacity of walls is especially obvious.In strengthening joints around the opening,the appropriate strengthening measures should be applied to the upper plain stone lintel to prevent adverse effects caused by local constraint strengthening.关键词
