南海深层西边界流时空特征及其机理的数值模拟研究
Spatiotemporal variations and associated mechanisms of the deep western boundary current in the South China Sea de-termined based on numerical simulations

Abstract
To investigate the temporal variability and spatial structure of the deep western boundary current(DWBC)in the South China Sea(SCS)as well as the influence of mixing distributions on its seasonal variability,this study conducted four sensitivity experiments using the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model(HYCOM).These experiments employed different mixing distributions based on the observed spatial characteristics of mixing in the SCS.(1)A large DWBC was identified in the east of the Zhongsha Islands in the SCS.Strong mixing zones in the northern SCS and around the Zhongsha Island chain enhanced the deep cyclonic horizontal circulation and strengthened the DWBC.(2)The control experiment successfully reproduced the seasonal variation of the DWBC,with strong flows in summer and autumn and weak flows in winter and spring.(3)The spatial distributions of strong mixing showed a regulatory impact on the temporal variability of the DWBC in the SCS.The other three experiments simulated the strong flows in summer and autumn;however,the weak DWBCs in winter and spring were not prominent.Com-pared to the strong mixing zone in the northern SCS,the strong mixing zone around the Zhongsha Island chain area played a more important role in regulating the temporal variability of the DWBC in the SCS.关键词
