摘要

Abstract

Environmental changes and human activities have intensified the frequent occurrence of harmful algal blooms(HABs),posing serious threats to ecosystems and human health.Therefore,it is crucial to develop efficient and sensitive detection technologies for accurately monitoring the occurrence and development of HAB species and for precisely monitoring and managing microalgal communities.This article reviews the cutting-edge applications of catalyzed reporter deposition-fluorescence in situ hybridization(CARD-FISH)in the quantitative study of HABs and provides a comparative analysis with three other mainstream techniques:high-throughput sequencing technolo-gies,quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction,and fluorescence in situ hybridization.In addition,this paper highlights that CARD-FISH possesses unique advantages,such as high sensitivity and in situ quantification,making it highly valuable in the quantitative study of HABs.Furthermore,the article discusses the technique's application prospects and future development potential,providing theoretical support and technical reference for related re-search.
