Relationship between growth mindset and parental involvement:A moderated mediation model

Abstract
Objective:In order to explore the relationship between growth mindset and parental involvement,a mod-erated mediation model was proposed to examine the mediating role of parental educational expectations and the moderating role of marital satisfaction.Methods:The study adopted the Growth Mindset Scale,the Parental Involve-ment Questionnaire,the Parental Educational Expectation Questionnaire and the Marital Adjustment Test Scale to conduct research on 670 parents of primary and secondary school children.Results:①Growth mindset,educational ex-pectations,marital satisfaction and parental involvement were all positively correlated(r=0.69,0.11,0.23,0.65,0.84,0.23;P<0.01).②Educational expectation played a partial mediating role between growth mindset and Parental involvement,and the value of the indirect effect was 0.50.③The mediating effect was moderated by marital satisfac-tion.The positive predictive effect of growth mindset on educational expectation was significant(Bsimple=0.81,SE=0.04,P<0.001).When the marital satisfaction was relatively high,the predictive effect of growth mindset on educa-tional expectation slowed down(Bsimple=0.55,SE=0.04,P<0.001).Conclusion:①Parents with a growth mindset will invest more in the process of raising their children.②Growth mindset significantly predicts educational expecta-tions and further predicts parental involvement.③In families with high marital satisfaction,the influence of parents' growth mindset on parental involvement is relatively small.关键词
