Performance Analysis of Blockchain Forks Under Heterogeneous Propagation Conditions in Internet of Ships
摘要
Abstract
Due to the global distribution of network nodes in the internet of ships(IoS)and the high reliance on terrestrial and spatial communication, the overall system exhibits a complex technical composition and topology, thus featuring significant heterogeneity. This intrinsic heterogeneity poses challenges to the consensus mechanisms of blockchain appli-cations operating within the IoS,with a typical adverse phenomenon,i.e.,the occurrence of blockchain forks. This paper examines the characteristics of blockchain forks under heterogeneous propagation conditions in ship networks from three perspectives.Firstly, the paper analyzes several primary forms of forks and their causes under the DPoS consensus mecha-nism,taking into account the asynchronous nature of block propagation resulting from the heterogeneity of maritime net-works,and identifies the conditions that lead to the occurrence of forks in the blockchain.Secondly, the paper investigates the cross-domain transmission process of blocks within maritime networks and constructs a delay model for block propa-gation based on wave propagation theory. Finally,Simblock is utilized to simulate the cross-domain propagation character-istics of blocks under the heterogeneity of IoS and to provide a comprehensive analysis and summary of the main causes of blockchain forks in IoS.As a supplement, this paper briefly discusses feasible measures to mitigate the heterogeneous propagation of blocks in the context of current maritime technology.关键词
