摘要

Abstract

Macadamia nut shells(MNS)were torrefied at 200-300 ℃ for different times to investigate the effects of torrefaction pretreatment on the fuel characteristics and combustion behavior of MNS.The physicochemical properties,fuel characteristics,and combustion behavior of MNS were characterized using proximate analysis,ultimate analysis,Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,and thermogravimetric(TG)analysis.The results showed that after torrefaction,the higher heating value(QHHV)of MNS increased from 20.26 MJ/kg to 26.73 MJ/kg,fixed carbon content rose from 21.44%to 45.38%,and volatile matter decreased from 78.37%to 54.08%.Pearson correlation analysis revealed that torrefaction temperature played a dominant role in the changes in fuel characteristics,and there was a strong coupling between elemental composition and fuel quality.The comprehensive combustion index(S)remained above 2 × 10-7 even at 300 ℃ for 60 min,and the hygroscopic reduction efficiency(λHRE)reached 70.5%.During torrefaction,hemicellulose and cellulose were gradually decomposed,while lignin became relatively enriched.At a torrefaction temperature of 300 ℃ for a holding time of 30 min,the as-prepared sample MNS-300-30 achieved the optimal balance among solid yield(YS,71.29%),energy yield(YE,88.68%),QHHV(25.2 MJ/kg)and combustion performance(S=2.55 × 10-7),and exhibited excellent fuel characteristics.
