Abstract

This study aims to establish a soil quality assessment system based on the minimum data set(MDS)for Moso bamboo(Phyllostachys edulis)forests in Suichang County,Zhejiang Province.Through field sampling and laboratory analysis,it obtained 16 soil indicators data and used principal component analysis combined with the Norm value method to select nine core indicators:soil pH,organic carbon,available phosphorus,available potassium,clay content,electrical conductivity,and available copper,zinc,and iron,thus forming the MDS.The findings showed that the soil quality index(ISQ)calculation based on the MDS was significantly correlated with the results from the total data set(R2adj=0.81).The overall soil quality of the moso bamboo forests in Suichang County was at a moderate level,but with significant spatial heterogeneity.Soil acidification and available phosphorus deficiency were identified as the main limiting factors.The study demonstrates that the MDS method can efficiently evaluate soil quality of moso bamboo forests in Suichang County,and the results provide a scientific basis for soil acidification improvement,precise nutrient management of phosphorus and potassium,and sustainable management in this region.
