Image Politics and the Construction of a Unified Visual Culture in the Eastern Han Dynasty
摘要
Abstract
During the Eastern Han Dynasty,images and politics were deeply intertwined,forming a binary integrated structure of"image-politics."In this period,images served not merely as a popular means of expression among the populace but were also endowed with strong political intentions due to their inherent ethical,moral,and cognitive attributes.Through visual arts,a unified political order was constructed and political identity was reinforced,transforming image art into an instrumental means of maintaining ruling order and governing the realm(tianxia).Under the order of Great Unity,the visual arts of the Eastern Han Dynasty witnessed the interaction,exchange,and integration among multiple ethnic groups,demonstrating an open,inclusive,and confident cultural spirit.关键词
