Application prospects for integrating flexible sensor-based electronic skin with transdermal drug delivery

Abstract
This paper examines the development of electronic skin(e-skin)devices and transdermal drug delivery(TDD)systems.E-skin,made from flexible conductive polymers,can conform closely to human skin and has potential as a platform for TDD.Combining e-skin with TDD provides a new approach for intelligent and personalized healthcare.TDD delivers drugs directly through the skin,avoiding oral or injectable administration.It is painless,enables sustained release,and offers high efficiency.However,it is limited by the skin barrier and uncontrolled drug release.Integrating e-skin with flexible sensors enables real-time monitoring of physiological signals and precise control of drug release based on feedback.This approach overcomes the limitations of traditional TDD and enables smart,dynamic drug management.This paper reviews the current status of e-skin technology and its applications in TDD and skin disease management.Examples include flexible microneedle patches for treating diabetes,smart contact lenses for glucose monitoring,and electronic facial masks that enhance drug penetration.Technical challenges in combining flexible sensors with drug delivery systems are also discussed.In the future,integrating e-skin with AI and big data could further advance precision and remote healthcare,thus opening new directions for personalized therapy.关键词
