The Generation of Labor Towards its Own Intrinsic Good
摘要
Abstract
Since Aristotle first distinguished between productive and practical activities,and through the modern reflections of Kant and the contemporary analyses of Habermas,activities that transform nature have consistently been regarded as instrumental—aimed at ends beyond themselves—and as lacking the potential to be intrinsically good.The rise of the environmental protection movement and the advent of ecological civilization place treating nature well in a position of priority,and inevitably require that activities which transform nature overcome tendencies towards demoralization,realize a return to purposiveness,and become a good whose end lies within itself.Marx's idea that labor creates human beings defines the creation of human existence as the very essence of labor itself,thereby making it possible for the creation of human existence to be internalized as the end of labor itself.Once labor acquires its own end and becomes a good in itself,it necessarily generates an immanent orientation that guides human beings to shape nature in accordance with the laws of beauty.A beautiful natural world is the external realization of the intrinsic good of labor,because natural beauty is the true visage of human beings.Before it is recognized by the subject,the end inherent in labor itself remains latent within it;only when it is brought to consciousness and becomes the subject's own end can it become an actual end and guide the subject towards freedom and emancipation.关键词
